Sorry for the delay in my appearance... They shut down the entire campus' internet and didnt tell anyone or fix it for 3 days. Thats government work for you. Anywho, glad to see you all kept posting and conversing. If I go away for a while or stop responding in the future assume the same reasoning (this is the second time its happened).

And yes.... CapnPat's right, I dont live in "New York." I live on long Island. Kinda like saying Denver isnt near the mountains its on the front range from what I gather.

welcome back... how was the slopes?

ive been out on the waves, less down hill, but feels vaguely like moguls.

oh and I wish i had a picture of the "ACME Bricks" that they have for nuggets games.

Slopes were very nice. We had some fresh powder to ski on both days. I'm sore to be sure.

Okay, okay, quick question about the language thing. Where the fuck did that come from, I guess it really hadn't been discussed previous, but it just came out of nowhere like, well a brick. Mikhael if you could please explain how this will work with our characters I would be grateful. For example I was just conversing fine with the group, but I'm pretty sure I would be considered an outworlder. Does that mean English somehow transcends worlds!? What about written languages?

Edit: Okay I went back and read the post over again. So what you're saying is that only my character and Gurtharon's character speak English, but English is not native to this plane of existence. But everyone from this plane in the group can speak it, or they are wearing those earbuds, but then our two characters wouldn't understand what they said.

Okay okay, so the room is magically enchanted with a spell like tongues or something, and Matt is the only character that can speak English. Lets go with that explanation.

Also, on a totally unrelated note, the alcohol dispensing thingies (its a technical term). Were they inspired by your trip to Prague? Specifically that bar where they had taps at each table, because that was pretty awesome sounding.

1) The Aryen nation place DOES speak english, they just call it common. In fact most human populations speak common. Although they do not write english the same way we do, in case you didn't pick it up from the post the written style is Arabic. This is intentional, always was. What the language thingys are for is for when you venture into other places: The Coalition places to be specific. They on the other hand do not speak primarily common, since they havent been united for any length of time. The language devices are designed to translate these "dialects" as well as common for offworlders who dont know common, but as Lieutenant Brical remarked he was surprised you dont need them for that. Finally he used its explanation as English at the time because he has been in focus on earth, thus his human form. Keep in mind this is all out of character knowledge, your character is probably wondering what the deuce is going on.

For those native to these worlds, for the most part standard D&D language is set up (all of the main ones, not the ones that only Ilene and druids bother with). There are a bit of things that I have added for a bit of RPing flavor, some plot. I'll try to let you know language info to start next time (applies to those from this world, you other suckers get to figure it out).

Keep in mind that I have a fairly well planned out structure for this and until the little bits and pieces unravel you may be wondering what the hell is going on. Also, as I have said before, just because your characters arent there to discover something doesnt mean it doesnt happen. My dming style is RTS, not event based.

2) As mentioned in the "spoiler thing," for those of you accustomed to the local pubs, there are no hostess' you order up at the bar. To clarify, there are bar service people here that come by and keep the beer tanks filled and clean up spills. However, this culture has no concept of waiters. Or busing for that matter, it is typically good manners to take your used diningware back up to the bar.

3) The beer dispensers are actually a mix of that and a water tower i saw out in long island sound. Although if you read they arent in the middle of the table but rather on a pole from the floor located in between 4 tables. They are filled by capillary effect much like a camel back water pack, and the cylinders need replacing after the beer has been spent. The cylinders hold about 4 gal a piece.
